Yesterday T and I got ready to go out for his photo shoot. We had the bow tie, we had the globe, we had the balsa wood glider plane… wait… where’s the plane?! Is that it? That pile of crushed mess in the corner?! Who the heck?! What the !*@#*&???!! Ah forget it!
Today I found a retro carry-on suitcase at a yard sale for a buck! Hadn’t even thought of including a suitcase in his portraits! I kept my eye open for a replacement plane, but found nothing. Still determined to do our session, we headed to the big box toy store. I went through rack after rack of toy planes and cars… but I am sooo particular when it comes to doing these special theme session and wanted something with a vintage feel. With the best thing I could find in hand, I was about to give up. But a display of toys from one of our favorite Disney Pixar movie shorts caught my eye. (If ya don’t know, my hubs is a HUGE disney fan. It’s next to impossible for Disney items to NOT catch my eye!) Behind a patriotically colored tow truck hid a cool little red, white and blue, single engine vintage looking plane. PERFECT! And then, to complete the serendipitous events, the sunset was gorgeous!
T was as cooperative as an 8 year old could be and earned himself a treat afterwards. (leave him a comment so he’ll be more willing next time. thanks!)
