Welcome and thank you for stopping by my blog!

My name is Monique (or Moki if you prefer). I am a creative art photographer serving Albuquerque, New Mexico and surrounding areas. My photography is not going to look like other photographers work. That is because I offer a finely tuned, uniquely designed, client inspired portrait experience. I believe portraits should be more than just a picture of your face, they should be a story about who you are.

Browse my blog, leave a comment or two, and let me know if one of a kind portraits are the right fit for you.

baby boy

Ohhhh babies! On rare occasions I do newborn sessions. I love babies. I’m really good with babies (being the oldest of 5, a babysitter for years, and having 4 of your own PLUS nieces and nephews will do that to you.) My newborn sessions turn out pretty good (if I say so myself. ;) ) However, last year I decided newborn sessions weren’t for me. They require a level of patience unlike any other session… patience from the baby, from other children in the family, from mom and dad, and from me. But for this family? Brand new parents, with nothing but smiles and helping hands, it’s no problem at all. On top of that, the new mommy is a counselor at my boy’s school and has been part of a VERY patient group of staff that have listened, helped, and treated my ADHD son with extreme patience and care. It was a pleasure to do this photo session for them! ♥

family quote

I’ve been pondering lately on the role of women in the family unit. If you read this quote one way, you might interpret it to mean the burden of the home, of a family, of a homemaker, rests on and even may weigh down the woman… that it is her duty to be in the home…to be a slave of the home.

However, it’s a recent conversation with my son that has me looking at this quote differently. He suddenly has an intense interest in the way a house is built. How are the walls made? What’s underneath the shingles? How do the windows stay in? What do you do first to build a house? Now that’s the most important part of house building… the foundation!

You really shouldn’t just start building a house straight on the dirt. It’s crucial to have the strongest foundation if you want a house to last through the years. It must be made properly, with the right materials, for the framework must be built upon it and it will carry the weight of the whole structure. The strong foundation will help prevent catastrophe. It will stand up against time. It will be the vital piece involved in all the workings of the home… and so it is with a good woman.

She will stand the burdens of time, holding strong to her family, to support them, nurture them, care for them, train them. She will be the unmovable base upon which others rely. It’s a difficult job, but a blessed one.

My sister in-law, Rose, is one of these strong women. I admire her perseverance, patience, and dedication to her family’s well being. And what a stinkin’ cute family it is!
