Profile Picture

Welcome and thank you for stopping by my blog!

My name is Monique (or Moki if you prefer). I am a creative art photographer serving Albuquerque, New Mexico and surrounding areas. My photography is not going to look like other photographers work. That is because I offer a finely tuned, uniquely designed, client inspired portrait experience. I believe portraits should be more than just a picture of your face, they should be a story about who you are.

Browse my blog, leave a comment or two, and let me know if one of a kind portraits are the right fit for you.

The boys acting silly during our family photo session

I only have a minute. I am in Vegas for a photographer’s convention (wppi). After a long evening trying to find somewhere yummy to eat (China Poblanos at the Bellagio) and meeting some new friends/room mates and staying up late to chat with them, I then got out of bed this morning, hours before I usually get up to head out the door to do a family session with my long time clients and friends out at Red Rocks… and it was snowing…ok just a few flurries, but there was snow on the ground.

I am going to take a quick nap before I head back down to the conference..I am so tired I can barely zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Winter’s Now Come Fairly

A young girl hiding in a winter thicket in Farmington

A Mother Goose Poem

It’s been an odd weather week. First we had warmer days in the mid 50s, followed by an amazing night and day of snow, when suddenly temperatures dropped below zero and Albuquerque matched it’s record low. Schools were cancelled, pipes busted, buses wouldnt start, un-winterized cars broke down, roads froze, the demand for natural gas overwhelmed the gas company and thousands of homes went unheated (and some still are a week later). Yesterday was beautiful, no coat necessary for the most part… today the wind came the possibility of snow threatened and passed us by. It will be a cold cold day tomorrow, followed by another handful of glorious winter days in the 50′s.

Winter Weather Snowstorm

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011

I love cold weather. I prefer layers. I like the way warm mugs of cocoa feel in my hand. I pile the blankets on at night after I’ve turned the thermostat down.I’d make soup every night if my family would let me. I was so thankful for the 2 snow days we got this week. Now I am ready for them to go back to school.
